Pancake Day

Pancake Day began as a part of Shrove Tuesday, a traditional feast day in the United Kingdom before the start of Lent on Ash Wednesday. Historically on this day, Anglo-Saxon Christians went to church for confession to be shriven, or absolved, of their sins before a time of fasting. This day was usually the last opportunity for many households to use up the eggs and fats in their home before Lent and pancakes were often cited as a great way to use up those ingredients.

What Day is Pancake Day?
