Waffles vs. Pancakes
While waffle mix and pancake batter may seem indiscernible at first, they are actually two completely different batters that create completely different tasting breakfast foods. When it comes to waffle vs. pancake batter, there are plenty of differences in how the ingredients are combined and what goes into the batter to create these delicious meals. Pancakes are often browned on the outside to create a crispy edge to them with a spongy and fluffy center. Waffles, on the other hand, are completely crispy on the outside but chewy in the center.
Batter aside, in the long-running waffle vs. pancake debate, aside from personal taste it’s important to keep in mind that both are incredibly versatile foods that can be both sweet and savory and can have any number of toppings and countries all over the world have found new ways to make these traditional breakfasts. However, waffles do come with the extra hassle of needing a waffle iron in order to have waffles at home while pancakes can be made on any available flat surface connected to a heating method. At the same time, some may find that pancakes just can’t soak up syrup the same way waffles can without getting too mushy, which may ruin that perfectly crispy crust on the outer rim. So in the end, when it comes down to whether pancakes or waffles are better, like anything, it comes down to personal preference.
